What is Microblading?

Microblading is sometimes called Eyebrow Embroidery or tattooing. It is a procedure categorized under permanent makeup, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, it is less invasive and is considered semi-permanent lasting 1-3 years.

The length of time is dependent on each client’s skin type and skincare routine. It is a great option for clients wanting to achieve defined, shaped and fuller eyebrows. Those clients that have lost, loosing or have over tweezed their eyebrows will dramatically have enhanced full brows.

The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultrafine needles and each ‘hair’ stroke is gently etched into the skin, this will give a very natural and realistic shaped eyebrow. Pigments that are used are matched specifically to each client, giving a natural look.

Is it Painful?

When most of us think of tattooing you think of pain, however microblading is less painful. With the use of a high quality numbing cream, the majority of clients don’t feel much more than a scratching sensation.

Clients that tend to have sensitive skin will sometimes feel more sensation. After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe as similar to a sunburn.

How long does it take?

For your first session you can expect about 2 ½ – 3 hours. During this session the technician will measure, shape and style the perfect look for you. Once the shape has been decided, the colour selection begins. Once the client is satisfied, the Microblading begins.
Follow up appointments are necessary, the second session needs to be booked after 4-6 weeks from the first session. This session is not as long, expect 1 ½ to 2 hours to complete.

How will I heal?

Right after the session clients will be slightly red and the pigmentation colour will be very dark. This is completely normal and part of the process. The colour will fade as it heals, up to 50%. As it heals clients will notice some scabbing, it is important not to pick this could cause damage to the skin or effect the outcome of microblading treatment, this should last approximately 7-14 days. The pigmentation colour will keep lightening as your skin heals and the colour will fully set in after a month.

What happens during the touch up session?

This appointment 4-6 weeks after initial session is highly recommended. Pigment colour may need to be added, thickness and more ‘hair’ strokes can be added. Clients with oily skin most often need a deeper shade as the oil in the skin will lighten the pigment. This session will refine the brows to ensure it is perfect for you and the colour will retain for a whole year.

This session must happen at least 4 weeks after first session, not any earlier as pigment is not fully set into the skin. Most important, to prevent scar damage as the skin tissue must have time to heal.

How long does it last?

This answer is really dependant on the client. Important factors are skin type, age, skincare routine. Clients that tend to tan or use products with AHA or Glycolic Acid will fade faster as your skin will resurface faster.

It is highly recommended to refresh at 12 to 18 months after the first session. With the pigment not as deep as a traditional tattoo, they will fade over time yet leaving a slight shadow. Typically clients will find they last between 1 to 3 years.

Free consultations are required to make sure this is the best decision for you. There are important factors to go over before Microblading can start, as well as knowing the post care.

As with all cosmetic procedures, clients should not make decisions lightly and be realistic to the results. We always recommend clients do research and understand fully what the procedure is about.

Our Microblade technicians have been fully trained and certified, they will to their utmost to achieve your desired results. It’s important to remember our faces are never perfectly symmetrical, and brows are always “sisters, not twins”
